The initial stage of the project in 2024 was to clear an area in front of the Better Gym building on Lillie Road and begin planting. Removing all the dumped litter and overgrown ivy was a huge task, energetically undertaken by local volunteers over several months. You can see our progress in the pictures left .
Once it was cleared, we pruned the struggling shrubs near the entrance to the gym and added nutrition to the soil. Next came some perennial planting suitable for the shady site, plus bulbs to add more colour in the spring of 2025. See left how it looked in 2025!

A Summer Fete /Snail Day held in June 2025
helped to introduce the project to the community and was the first of many more community events to come! We were delighted by all the positive feedback given
by the local community, which encouraged us to move on to the next stage.
Clearing of the overgrown border by the basketball courts and bulb planting. See our progress left!
Phase 3 Community Garden design and funding drive
Initiated in 2026
There has been much enthusiasm for this project from
a range of local organisations - including The Creighton Centre, The Hammersmith and Fulham Dementia Action Alliance, Better Gym and the Parks Manager and Sports and Leisure Development Manager at LBH&F - for creating a sustainable, well-designed space that will capture the imagination and raise up this neglected
area for the community. Hammersmith and Fulham has a long history of maintaining community gardens so
has built up considerable expertise which will help to advise on the project.
Other advisers include Bug Life, Groundwork and xxxxxx ? The initial garden design brief is being undertaken by xxxxx Groundwork, which will also be supporting Jenny's Corner with grant applications.
